OLIVA COLLABORATES WITH ELIE BLEU TO CREATE NEW LIMITED EDITION COLLECTOR'S HUMIDOR

With just 21 humidors to be released to mark a tumultuous year around the world, The XXI Selection humidor will contain no less than 95 cigars from across the Oliva range, spanning a host of former award-winners and innovative vitolas and blends. The collaboration with Elie Bleu is a collector’s edition piece and includes a brand-new cigar personally designed by Cortès owner, Frederik Vandermarliere himself.

“It’s a real delight to me that within the Vandermarliere Cigar Family, we have the capability, expertise and contacts to be able to create a magnificent humidor like this for real lovers of full-bodied, longfiller, handmade cigars,” said Fred Vandermarliere. “This is the pinnacle of the art of cigarmaking and we are thrilled to be able to offer these beautiful, limited humidors for sale.”

OLIVA SERIE V MELANIO FIGURINO

The new cigar is called Figurino and will only be released in 21 single sticks as part of the new humidor. It is a short figurado, or shaped cigar; its dimensions are 5.5 by 52 Ring Gauge, and the cigar marks the first time that Frederik Vandermarliere and Gilberto Oliva of Oliva Cigars have created a brand-new cigar design since their collaboration begun in 2016.

Figurino came about after long discussions between myself, Gilberto and the team at Elie Bleu,” explained Fred Vandermarliere, in announcing the launch of the new humidor, which will be available in select stores from the beginning of next year.

“It seemed appropriate to place 21 of these beautiful new cigars in our new humidor, made, of course, in 2021. Only 21 of them will ever be made. And the price? €21,000, of course.”

The Figurino features a Habano wrapper, and a Nicaraguan Filler and Binder and its unique shape was personally designed by Vandermarliere.

Since purchasing Oliva in 2016, the Vandermarliere Cigar Family has continued to invest and innovate in the cigar world. It has rebuilt one facility in Estelí, the home of Nicaraguan cigarmaking, and also built a new, state-of-the-art factory that makes Oliva one of the world’s leading producers. Oliva is also the first cigar company in the world to include a QR-code on some of its cigar boxes, which allow the consumer, via their smartphone or tablet, immediate access to information on who rolled their cigars, where and how the tobacco was treated and aged and takes them to a live ‘heatmap’ showing where in the world other smokers are also enjoying the same cigar.
